Upcoming Workshop:

Katharine will be coming to Mudfire in Decatur, Georgia, USA to run a special workshop on 7-9 November of this year.

From Sketches to Slabs - with Katharine Morling

Participants will be invited to create their own unique work of art over a three day workshop with Katharine. Starting with quick drawings using ink and bleach to sketch out ideas exploring your inspiration, you are encouraged to create a piece reflective of yourself. Katharine's work is inspired by her own personal narrative, so each person's work will be unique and personal to them. On the first morning you will be coming up with initial designs of what you want to create and later start working in clay and finalizing your designs. Katharine will be demonstrating different techniques such as hand building and slab building, tailoring these to your individual designs. She will be on hand to give expert advice and tips and tricks of working with clay.

As you see your piece creation come together, Katharine will be demonstrate how she uses underglazes within her work, providing examples. You will have the opportunity to experiment with oxides and stains if it fits in your design.

Class size 16. Particpants will be hand-building and learning to use porcelain in this workshop.
